Synopsis:

Returning from a weeklong hunting vacation, Lamont learns of a strange epidemic of suicides involving multiple directors of the same company. Every man shot himself precisely in the mouth. After learning that Dr. Franz Layden had conducted a public demonstration at the county fair displaying the sharp-shooting skills of a young boy named Walter, Lamont suspects a connection. An accident in the lab blinded the youth and Dr. Layden made a cats-paw of him; he deliberately used him to murder the directors to gain control of the company. Following each murder, Walter placed the gun in the hand of each victim, fooling the police. Layden confesses his crime when confronted by The Shadow, but only after being wounded in the arm. Angry for the betrayal, Walter shoots Layden dead in the same manner he shot the directors. Not wanting to face the police, the dissolute youth turns the gun on himself.
