Synopsis:

Employees of John Danton’s construction company quit after a worker falls to his death from the sixtieth floor and a phantom is blamed for the murder. Determined to find the cause, Danton also falls to his death. Lamont questions his widow Mary, and her attorney, Delmar Sanders. He learns that John’s father and uncle were partners in the unlucky building. John tried to get money to complete the building but reputable businessmen considered the ghost building a bad risk so he turned to Otto Sinari, a notorious gambler. The Shadow questions Sinari but fails to find a motive — someone else fronted the money and had Sinari cover for them. Investigating the building himself, Lamont visits the sixtieth floor and is hit from behind. Lawyer Sanders phones Margot to visit the skyscraper because Lamont is wounded and she quickly discovers the attorney is the phantom. He fronted the money and now wants to eliminate the only people who can prove his guilt. He loved Mary Danton and having lost her to John, wanted revenge against the two.
