Synopsis:

Burkett and his two companions abscond with the company’s funds, forcing stockholders to contemplate losing their homes. The gang’s initial intent was to fly to Nova Scotia, but wreckage of the plane recovered at sea suggests they never reached their destination. The Shadow questions the night watchman at the airport to discover the men actually landed on Black Rock, twenty-five miles off the coast of Labrador, then set their plane on automatic pilot so it cruised seaward until the gas ran out. Lamont and Margot venture to Black Rock amidst the ice-capped waters to find the embezzlers alive and well, enjoying the fruits of their crime. After Margot is kidnapped, tied and gagged, The Shadow creates friction between the thieves by destroying most of the food supply. Burkett succeeds in killing his two companions while Margot is freed from her bonds. As Margot starts the escape plane, The Shadow laughs; a Coast Guard cutter of the North Atlantic Ice Patrol will come by tomorrow to pick up the lone survivor.
