Synopsis:

Mr. Venning of the firm of Thorncroft and Venning, has mysteriously disappeared. Venning’s newly-hired secretary, Mary Blake, visits Lamont and Margot to plead for help. She has been suffering from a series of wild, terrifying, full-color dreams. While The Shadow questions Thorncroft at the office, Margot chooses to stay with Mary and stumbles upon the body of Mr. Grimm. While the police suspect Mary of killing one of her employers, Lamont arranges a trap to expose the real killer. Confronted with the evidence, Thorncroft confesses that he was handling contracts that were illegally secured. He and Grimm murdered Venning and shipped his corpse in a trunk to South America. Unsure whether the secretary suspected the crime, they fed her the truth drug, Sodium Pentothal, which was the cause of her nightmares being in color instead of black and white. The Shadow laughs at Thorncroft after preventing the murder of Mary Blake. When the trunk is recovered, the police will get their man.
