Synopsis:
Jimmy Grimes and Tony Gans operate a shrewd blackmail racket under the guise of a gossip sheet known as The Tattle-Tale. When socialite Perry Warner is found murdered, Lamont suspects the scandal magazine is responsible. Following the trail of another victim, Sumner Rand, The Shadow finds enough evidence to prove his suspicions. Grimes and Gans visit Rand to silence their victim before he tells the police that he saw Warner in their office hours before the murder. The police arrive in time to save the little man as he escapes through the back door but Rand will not testify for fear of his past going public. One week later, Lamont tracks down the whereabouts of Grimes and Gans. Then he sends Margot to Mrs. Warner in hopes the widow will identify the voice of one of the blackmailers for the police. After The Shadow tricks the blackmailers into emptying their guns, he discovers they were under orders from “The Boss” — Mrs. Warner. Racing to the apartment, The Shadow stops Mrs. Warner from killing Margot, who had also figured out the widow’s secret.
