Synopsis:

Rodney Sterling wakes to find himself suffering from a severe case of amnesia. Unable to remember the events of the past month, he believes his lost mind is worse than death when fear strikes his heart. Led by Dr. Wilson Chandler, Rodney spends the day at work with his secretary, Grace, only to find himself shot at from a window. In fear of his life, Rodney calls on Lamont Cranston, whose phone number is listed in a little black book. Lamont investigates and soon discovers that Rodney Sterling was murdered just days before. Grace and Chandler are heirs to his fortune and plotted a scheme by drugging a patient from the doctor’s sanitarium. Simon Walters then believed he was Rodney Sterling for the benefit of Joey Dallas, a hoodlum who was searching for Rodney to collect a gambling debt. Grace killed Rodney and was hoping Dallas would mistake Walters as the dead man and take the blame for the murder. When The Shadow reveals Grace’s true motives to Dr. Chandler, and her intentions of using Walters as a murder weapon to eliminate the only other person who stood in her way of inheriting the fortune, she starts to lose her mind, becoming another patient in the sanitarium.
