Synopsis:

Lamont is on the trail of an elusive murder suspect whose name he believes is Fritz Wylie. Framed for the murder of Stanford, the passer for a narcotic ring, Lamont hurries before Commissioner Weston is forced to book Lamont for a crime he did not commit. After Lamont and Margot explore a number of waterfront dives, they encounter a few shady characters including The Duchess and her parrot. Smiley Evans, a notorious gunman, was the murderer who used The Duchess’ place in the sewer to cache the dope as it was unloaded at the waterfront. Afraid Stanford would lead Cranston to the hiding place in the sewer, Evans committed the crime. Thanks to the talkative parrot, The Shadow is able to find proof that Cranston is innocent, and Evans will be sent to the chair for the crime.
