Synopsis:
Mrs. Theresa Kimball, a wealthy eccentric whom the press refers to as “The Monkey Woman,” resides at a mansion within earshot of the Lotus Park Zoo. Collette, a French war orphan living in the house, is found murdered. The lead suspect may be a mammoth Congo ape, having recently escaped from the zoo while its cage was being cleaned. After Theresa is murdered, Lamont pieces the clues together to solve the mystery. As The Shadow, he forces the ape back in its cage and steals Lottie’s gun to hold the two guilty culprits until the police arrive. When Collette arrived, Lottie was jealous — knowing Theresa planned to revise her will and leave half of her estate to the French girl. She plotted the ape’s escape with Palmerston, the head zookeeper, and with the help of the animal, housed in the basement between crimes, she killed Theresa and her cousin Lottie.
