Synopsis:
A dying message from Sheriff Slade, a thin voice speaking out of space in a foreign tongue, a dead body smashed without any sign of where the death occurred and a strange fluorescent green blood bring Lamont Cranston and Margot Lane to the steep slopes of Bleak Mountain. Hoping to solve a mystery for their friend Slade, they find a crater large enough to suggest visitors from outer space have landed and are trying to make contact with Earthlings. After finding a cave filled with machines and wires, The Shadow solves the case. A foreign spy named B.F. Wilson, posing as an employee for the Astronomical Department of the State University, arrived from a far-off country to establish a shortwave radio transmitter. Each day he sends home valuable information. A bent tree and a snare traps and kills any suspicious passersby, hence the body found in the woods. Having smashed the transmission equipment, The Shadow informs Wilson that his plan is finished — the FBI will arrive soon and take command of the situation. As for the “green blood,” it was a powerful dye the police use when they tried to lay out a trail. The dead body was an FBI agent who got too close to the truth.
