Synopsis:
Terror has swept the city as a wanton murderer known as the Double Slug Killer takes life after life. Among the victims is criminal investigator Timothy Kelland. Just hours before, Kelland had tracked down a wanted criminal named Fieranzi, wanted for a three hundred thousand dollar out-of-state holdup and attempted to blackmail the criminal rather than turn him in. Fieranzi thinks his idea of a series of seemingly random murders to avoid suspicion has apparently come true when Kelland becomes a victim. After Fieranzi takes it on the lam, The Shadow gets the criminal’s good friend, “Geeky” James, to find the elusive killer. In an old church where Geeky and Fieranzi used to play as children, Geeky is shot twice in the head. Unaware that The Shadow is in attendance, Kelland makes an appearance. He knocked off victims without a motive, as Fieranzi thought, and with the assistance of Geeky was able to use Fieranzi’s gun to frame the bank robber. Kelland forces Fieranzi to reveal where in the basement the money is hidden in return for his freedom. After recovering the money, Kelland attempts to eliminate Fieranzi with Geeky’s gun — until The Shadow arrives. Kelland is shot and killed upstairs in the church by Commissioner Weston and his men.
