Synopsis:

The making of a motion picture of the career of real-life mad-dog killer Nick Moreno has turned into a murder rampage of its own. First, there was the supposed accidental death of a bit player. Then, in an attempt to help Margot and Lamont track down the killer, Estelle Valentine, co-star of the film, was brutally shot to death at a pier’s edge. While the body count rises, The Shadow ventures along the waterfront questioning all the suspects including lead actor Frank Tagart and film director Claude DeKoven who hate each other’s guts. The solution comes in the form of a newspaper clipping in the clutches of a prop man — supporting actor Johnnie Bryson is really Johnnie Moreno, Nick’s brother. Not wanting to see Hollywood produce a low-budget picture about his brother, he capitalized on the hatred between Tagart and DeKoven in an effort to throw suspicion on the men and halt the production of the film. Confronted with the truth, Johnnie surrenders to the police. They arrive at the scene moments before Johnnie would have shot Tagart in “self-defense.”
