Synopsis:
When a woman named Hilda Brown fails in her attempt to blackmail Margot in exchange for proof that Lamont Cranston is “The Shadow,” she is found murdered and Margot is accused of the crime. Weston knows Margot is innocent but without proof she may be facing a jury trial. Investigating Hilda’s connection with a bogus painting racket, Lamont borrows Margot from police custody in an effort to clear her name — and his secret identity. Approaching Matthew Mathias and his partner-in-crime, Harold, The Shadow learns that Hilda was a former business partner who got too greedy and there was a falling out among thieves. Harold attempts to shoot The Shadow, but accidentally shoots and kills his partner. Fleeing the scene of the crime, Harold runs too fast and topples over a cliff to his death. The gun used in the crime — the same weapon used to kill Hilda — will clear Margot of any wrongdoing.
