Synopsis:

On the trail of Walt Colby, jewel thief and escaped convict, Margot and Lamont question widow Nolan, Colby’s former landlady and The Deacon, a notorious fence for stolen jewels. When Walt discovers the jewels he hid under the floorboards have vanished he starts playing detective himself to find who stole the loot. After discovering that his girlfriend, Julie, found the jewels, Walt exacts revenge on The Deacon for assisting her. Julie dies from Walt’s knife, and the Deacon from Walt’s gun. The wounded Walt returns to the widow Nolan, not realizing what Lamont and Margot discovered from Julie’s dying words — The Deacon had nothing to do with the stolen jewels. Widow Nolan watches as her son, Walt, wounded by bullets from the Deacon’s gun, lies dying in her apartment house. The Shadow prevents her from making a getaway and Walt will actually recover from his wounds and return to the penitentiary along with his mother.
