Synopsis:

A racketeer named Samson and his strong-arm, Nino, muscle in on Tim Carter’s Rio Rouge, a small but popular nightclub on the outskirts of town. Two stage performers, Liza Romayne and Gay Horton, leave their three thousand dollar per week jobs at their respective clubs to work for the Rio Rouge for one hundred dollars a night — and their health since they were threatened that they would never work again unless they accepted the new offer. When Liza Romayne drops dead on stage, Lamont suspects murder. Margot and Lamont get too close to the facts in the case, so Nino arranges for them to have an “accident” on the pier. After surviving the murder attempt, Lamont visits Carter and Horton as The Shadow to confirm his suspicions. During a midnight calling, Samson attempts to eliminate Tim Carter and Gay Horton, realizing someone talked. Before Samson can arrange the liquidation, The Shadow interferes, ensuring the criminals are sent to prison and Carter can reclaim his respectable nightclub — with Gay Horton performing to give Carter a boost.
