Synopsis:
Max Hale invites Lamont and Margot to his seaside cottage to investigate a strange apparition which he claims is a glowing ghost. Along the beach, Lamont finds the body of a blackmailer and evidence that the ghost is man-made. When Max and Lamont catch sight of the glowing visitor, Max fires a few shots without results. After The Shadow questions Max about his past, he solves the mystery. Lamont catches the ‘ghost’ and knocks him unconscious so he can expose the fraud wearing a pinch of luminous paint. Stephen Osgood plotted with Max’s wife, Lucia, to drive her husband insane for the fortune he brought back from the Orient. The blackmailer was silenced to stop him from telling Max of the entire scheme. Realizing the game is up, Lucia attempts to swallow the poison she tried to get Max to drink earlier in the night, but her husband knocks the glass to the floor.
