Synopsis:
Lamont and Margot investigate the strange obsession of Charles Slater, an American importer of West Indian products. Slater claims he is suffering from nightmares involving a snake with burning eyes — the product of a curse for defiling a sacred temple in Haiti. When Lamont scares away a poisonous serpent designed to kill Slater, The Shadow sets out to question the suspects including Florian Noel, the proprietor of a curio shop who employs a Haitian servant to assist with business. After Slater’s wife is found strangled, The Shadow races to a warehouse to uncover the truth. Slater stole a sacred treasure map from the temple in Haiti and Noel plotted with Slater’s cheating temptress to torture Slater with snakes and jungle drums into revealing the location of the hidden map. The Shadow assures Noel that his murder will not go unnoticed by the police when the truth is revealed to the arriving authorities. The Haitian will return the map to its rightful owners.
