Synopsis:

Exactly one year ago, Joseph Nolan was rescued from a motorboat that exploded at Lake Wilmot. Five men came to his rescue, one of them being Lamont Cranston. Nolan’s conscious mind revolted. He imagines he is blind. Fastening a guilt on one of the five men for the death he longs to experience, Nolan sets out to find each of the five men and hand them a special medal for bravery. After two of the men are found shot to death, Commissioner Weston and Lamont set out to save the life of the remaining men at the same lake where the truth becomes known. Nolan’s wife Grace was following her husband and committing the murders, pinning the special medals on the victims as proof of her husband’s guilt. When her botched motorboat ‘accident’ a year ago failed to kill her husband, she began committing the murders so he would take the rap. The Shadow exposes her as the guilty party and explains the details of the case to Margot.
