Synopsis:
Senator Rich was assassinated in Lincoln Hall, and while the news has been suppressed temporarily, Lamont puts out a casting call and hires Addison Stark to play the so-called “witness” as a decoy when the assassin attempts to murder Stark. The guilty are members of the Guild of Patriots — extremists and terrorists who start a long-range plan of political murder. Suffering from exhaustion and mental fatigue, Stark begins to suspect he is the real killer and strays from Lamont’s plan, throwing Margot, Lamont and Weston into a frantic game of cat and mouse. Lamont eventually solves the case and as The Shadow, accompanies Stark to the senator’s secret residence where he is alive and well. The Shadow learns that Stark’s wife was involved in the assassination attempt and was silenced by Senator Rich when he suspected she knew too much. Stark was a pawn in a deadly game where the faked assassination was meant to do nothing but create noise. The senator turns out to be the head of the Guild of Patriots, and the angry Stark, silences him with a gun.
