Synopsis:
Margot and Lamont are helping the curator of the city zoo locate his assistant, a young man who mysteriously disappeared while searching for an escaped reptile — the venomous South American Cascabel. After discovering the body of the assistant in the cellar of the house owned by Bill and Maria, Lamont poses as The Shadow to question their mystic neighbor, Haasa, to learn why he would need a snake in his charms. As it later turns out, Bill received a terrible shock when his young son died of a snakebite outside their mining camp in South America, and he began to believe that his wife was turning into a giant reptile. Haasa had caught the zoo snake and hid it in a hamper thinking he would collect a handsome reward for it. Bill stumbles upon the snake and with his mind snapped, murders the swami. When the zoo assistant accidentally discovered the snake and the body, he became the next victim. The Shadow kills the snake and holds Bill until the police arrive.
