Synopsis:
Lamont and Margot pay a visit to Mitzi, a performer at the Champagne Club who manages to hypnotize her audience with the display of a hypnotic charm shaped like a small doll. Wondering what is so important about the baby doll the striptease artist uses in her performance, Lamont investigates. Soon the doll disappears, followed by the dancer herself. While trying to locate them both, Margot falls into the clutches of Big Syd Clinton and is saved by The Shadow. Later, Lamont convinces Margot to fill in for the vanished striptease artist and gets shot at when the lights go out. Kidnapped, Margot is taken to a stockroom of the Jack & Jill Doll Company on the west side of the city, where she finds Mitzi tied to a chair. The Shadow arrives to overpower Big Syd Clinton and threatens to shoot Higby if he makes a desperate move before the police arrive. The crooks were using dolls as a means of smuggling diamonds and drugs into the country. Mitzi’s doll had twenty thousand dollars worth of diamond eyes that Mitzi had hidden.
