Synopsis:
Orders from David Fairfield and a suspicion of espionage brings Lamont and Margot to Texas, where an oil well fire and the murder of a watchman keep his attention. Matt Caldwell owns many acres that supposedly contain enough oil to help maintain the country’s oil supply. His new bride, Anna, is secretly working under the orders of Joseph Bergen, a real estate agent who has been trying to gain control of the oil fields. When Anna disregards her orders and tells Matt not to sell the land, she becomes a victim of Bergen’s murder attempt — sending her to the hospital for a long recovery. When Lamont learns of Bergen, he pays him a visit and is surprised by Matt’s brother, Steve, who is Bergen’s secret client. When Margot arrives looking for Lamont, she, too, is sent to the same shack where the criminals discover Lamont has gone and where The Shadow overpowers Bergen, ordering Margot to flee the scene. While she fetches the police, Steve attempts another oil well fire but he miscalculates and dies in a dynamite explosion. In the hospital, Anna hears the good news from Margot — Joseph Bergen was apprehended before he could send word to his superiors, ensuring the safety of Anna’s family overseas.
