Synopsis:

In running down the head of a murder-for-profit ring, a twisted case of murder and betrayal comes to a thrilling climax when Lamont and Margot are led to a girl named Rosa Case. Her partner-in-crime, Mr. Tolly, has fallen for client Lola Martin, a woman who arranged for his company to bump off her elderly husband so she could inherit a fortune. Mr. Tolly prefers to marry Lola and bump her off to cash in on a larger payoff than prearranged. Tolly’s right-hand man and executioner, Mr. Wentworth, murders Rosa for knowing too much. The Shadow uncovers the facts from Wentworth and handcuffs the hit man for the police to collect. Then he rushes to Lola’s apartment to save her from another murder — Tolly learned she talked to Lamont. Alone in her apartment, Lola shoots Tolly, figuring her problems are solved, including eliminating the only remaining witness to the murder of her husband. But she failed to reckon on the cunning of The Shadow, who tricks her into unloading her gun in a dark room — and arranges for her to be apprehended by Commissioner Weston and his men.
