Synopsis:
Sheldon Clay, escaped mental hospital patient, continues to have dreams that result in murder – and when he snaps out of his delusions, he has the murder weapon in his possession. Lamont and Margot stumble onto the case by accident and suspect one of the patients in the hospital, but Dr. Hollis won’t allow them to question any of them. After investigation and following a bloody clue, Margot and Lamont discover that Keems, a hospital employee, was not using alcohol for Clay’s evening rubdowns — he was using Toluene, a powerful drug that produces a hypnotic drunkenness when absorbed through the skin. While Keems robbed houses, he took Clay with him as his decoy in case of trouble — much in the way a crooked street peddler uses a shill. Confronted with the truth and the stolen loot, Keems attempts to shoot The Shadow. When he fails, he makes a mad run for the window and falls to his death.
