Synopsis:

Margot and Lamont visit a quiet country town to spend some time with Margot’s aunt and soon find themselves facing two murders — the first being that of the town’s mayor. The sheriff does not take a liking toward the city slickers and attempts to solve the murder without Lamont’s assistance. Both murders contain evidence that suggests Lamont is the guilty party and the visitors spend a considerable amount of time avoiding a lynch mob headed by the husband of the second victim. Realizing that victim number two was the result of a telephone party line, Margot risks her life by telling her aunt over the phone that she knows the identity of the killer. The sheriff arrives, confessing he overheard the conversation on the phone. The Shadow, however, prevents another murder and reveals to Margot that the sheriff was stealing town funds and the mayor was killed to prevent exposure.
