Synopsis:

Elaine Brooks believes she is cursed through the family bloodline, turning into a witch and burning down other people’s barns every time there is a crescent moon. Vacationing in New England, Lamont and Margot meet Walter Ballard, Elaine’s fiancé, who accuses her aunt and uncle of trying to drive the girl out of her senses in order to inherit the very considerable Brooks fortune. They find Ballard’s house burning to the ground, an ancient secret passageway where Aunt Abby lies dead from a stake in her heart and a mob of angry villagers seeking vengeance against Elaine. When the poor girl wakes from her stupor, she finds herself becoming the next victim of Ballard’s scheme. He wants to inherit her family fortune and have her committed to an asylum but with Cranston snooping about, he must speed up his plan. Setting another barn ablaze, Ballard intends to burn Elaine to death but The Shadow rescues her using a rope hanging from a loft window in the barn.
