Synopsis:

Having become interested in Janet Carlson’s story that her stepfather, Morgan, is responsible for her mother’s death, Margot and Lamont discover that Mrs. Carlson’s body has vanished mysteriously from its grave. When young Philip Carlson is found dead, all eyes point to Morgan — whom Janet initially accused of murder. When Morgan is poisoned and drops dead in front of Commissioner Weston, Lamont and Margot, Janet is accused of having a hand in all three murders. It isn’t until The Shadow questions Morgan’s servant, Edwards, and learns Morgan left behind a confession of his crimes with instructions not to open the letter until a year after his death. Morgan committed the murders and then suicide after learning he was dying of heart disease. Wanting to exact revenge on Janet for her accusations, his plan was to have the daughter framed for murder and then after she faced the electric chair tell the world that he committed the perfect crime. Thanks to Lamont’s quick thinking, the innocent woman is set free.
