Synopsis:

Five years ago, three men working for a securities firm committed a murder, pushing over a cliff a car containing an unconscious Ralph Stevens behind its wheel. Stevens was blamed for the theft of a large amount of the firm’s bonds. Now, the supposedly dead man (described as half-dead) has returned to avenge his demise, covering his murder campaign with an intricate web of horror and mystery. The first died falling from a cliff above rocks and water. His second victim, Robert Randall, fell from a window of his penthouse apartment after receiving a death threat played on a record. Margot and Lamont visit bodyguard Victor Ulrick, the third and final intended victim, to learn the details behind the acts of vengeance. When Margot discovers that Vera Randall is involved with the scheme she is escorted to the half-dead corpse who promises to eliminate any suspicions. The Shadow laughs as he tears off its disguise, revealing Robert Randall alive and well, having faked his death. The firm was heavily insured against the death of its employees. Randall and his wife attempted to collect the insurance money and go to Mexico, leaving the murders blamed on a dead man.
