Synopsis:
Alice Trent awakens to find the chauffeur and the cook murdered and her husband wrecking the house, smashing and destroying anything. Suffering from a rare tropical disease, Billy Trent is accused of the murder and Weston assumes the case is closed as soon as he gets a written confession from Alice. Lamont is not so sure so he follows the clues at the scene to unravel the truth — Alice suffered a severe head injury and, in her confusion, attempted to relive the truth of her past. Ex-lover Ben Clerisy wanted to come back into her life by slipping into her house with a bouquet in his hands. When the chauffeur and cook caught him, he killed them and tried to finish up with Alice. He had hoped her husband would be taken in as a suspect for the crimes but the clues he left behind led to his front door, where The Shadow unraveled the mystery.
