Synopsis:
Peterson, who escaped from state penitentiary, is believed headed for the city where, according to a fellow inmate, he intends reprisals against members of his gang who double-crossed him. The catch was one hundred thousand dollars — and Peterson’s trust of the boss, Rocco, and his attorney, Mr. Joyce, in pleading guilty with the intention of splitting the profits when he was released. Lamont and Margot attempt to question Louie, a member of a safe cracking ring who, in return for protection, volunteers to give information Lamont needs to smash the ring. Peterson kills Louie and Mr. Joyce, and Lamont races to save Lila, Peterson’s wife, only to discover she is not the intended target — it is Rocco. With Lila’s help, Peterson shoots Rocco dead. Now, with the money, Lila attempts to shoot Peterson making it look like self-defense, but The Shadow makes an appearance, witnessing the attempted murder and disarming her for the police.
