Synopsis:
Frank Brand, a racketeer in jukeboxes, and his right-hand man Joe Davis are attempting to muscle in on restaurants across the city. Charging the restaurant owners one thousand dollars a month for the use of his jukes, Brand and the crooked Alfred Blake set off special explosive devices at any restaurants that oppose him, putting the eateries out of business. As customers at a restaurant that was recently victimized, Lamont and Margot learn who is involved and, as The Shadow, Lamont learns from Blake how Rachmaninoff’s “Prelude in C Sharp Minor” piped in from a central studio has a specific note in it that sets off the explosive devices. After torturing Blake’s conscience, The Shadow forces him to contact Weston and deliver a full confession. When Brand and Davis attempt to flee to Mexico, they find the police waiting at their door.
