Cast: Bret Morrison (Lamont Cranston/The Shadow) Gertrude Warner (Margot Lane)
Music: Charles Paul
Synopsis:
The editor and publisher of a half dozen crime and horror magazines asks Lamont to read the opening chapters to an unfinished manuscript submitted by one of his readers. Lamont agrees that this is not the work of a fiction writer trying to make his composition sound like fact, but is the work of a crackpot trying to make fact sound like fiction. Lamont and Margot set out to find Alvin Kane, the neurotic author who fancies himself a murderer being driven crazy by his shrewish landlady. Questioning Kane in private, The Shadow learns the author does, in fact, plan to commit murder — even shooting the police — so he can add more chapters to his story and submit it to the magazine. Realizing a strait jacket is the best course for Kane, The Shadow knocks the man unconscious and phones the police.
