Synopsis:
A mysterious figure posing as “The Defender,” claiming to be an avenger to the guilty, has a supposedly divine mission to be his own law. After the death of two men recently released on parole, Lamont and Margot attempt to discover the identity of the masked man wearing judicial robes who seeks his own brand of justice. They race to the house of Roy McBride who was recently released from his armed robbery sentence that was a true case of mistaken identity. They learn that McBride has been called to a latenight meeting in Superior Court. While McBride begs for his life, “The Defender,” alias the ex-Assistant District Attorney John Harper, attempts to pass a sentence of death on the innocent party. The Shadow arrives and knocks the gun out of Harper’s hand, reminding him that no man can balance the scales of justice by loading one side of it with a gun. The police arrive to put Harper in an institution.
