Synopsis:
Flying southward to investigate a stricken mother’s fear for her son’s safety, Lamont and Margot arrive in the Gulf Keys in search of Johnny Adams. Questioning Sue Collins, a young girl who fancied Johnny, they learn that Mr. King hired the boy for some deep sea diving in search of Spanish gold. Everyone on the island knows there is no treasure but that the coastline is a smuggler’s paradise — for everything from dope to diamonds. Racing against time because of a hurricane due to arrive within the next few hours, Lamont, Margot and Sue venture to a mysterious cove to seek shelter. When Mr. King and Johnny seek the same shelter at the treacherous entrance to the inlet of Ghost Key, The Shadow pays the men a visit to learn whether Johnny is an accomplice or an unwilling participant. Threatening to shoot the boy, Mr. King tries to hold The Shadow at bay on the slippery slime-covered rocks. The Shadow disarms King who promptly loses his footing and falls into the water — a possible meal for the man-eating sharks. The Shadow tells Johnny to forget about the invisible avenger because, “No one will believe your story.” Johnny drags King out of Ghost Key Cove and takes him to the law.
