Synopsis:
Checking on the whereabouts of young Jeff Randolph, a war-disillusioned young man who is on the “hook” to a gambling syndicate, Lamont learns from Joe Remo, manager of one of the syndicate’s so-called “clubs,” that Jeff owes him twenty thousand dollars. When Jeff cannot come up with the money before the deadline, he has two alternatives: As trustee and guardian he can use part of his sister’s share of the estate, which she receives when she comes of age, or he can commit suicide with Joe Remo named as his beneficiary. Remo arranges for Al to keep an eye on Jeff until he pays his debt but Al hires a professional hit man named Trigger to shoot Jeff and steal some valuable jewels from the family safe. Jeff agrees to suicide, accepting the consequences of his decision. When Suzan appears moments before the scheduled robbery and murder and makes Jeff swear nothing bad will happen to him, he changes his mind. Trigger, however, wants to go through with the plan. The Shadow arrives to knock the gun out of Trigger’s hand, buying Jeff additional time to pay off his debt with Remo.
