Synopsis:
On a dark country road outside of Oakdale Cemetery, a man is found slashed to death and the only surviving witness claims her attacker was a giant black cat the size of an elephant. In the meantime, Weston deals with a recent rash of grave robberies. Autopsies reveal that the thieves have surgically removed the pituitary glands from the bodies. Lamont questions a professor at the university who has spent a lifetime studying the mystery of growth, unaware at first that Professor Frobisher and his assistant Martin are responsible for the grave robbing. Frobisher has been feeding a hormone extract from the stolen glands to both plants and animals making them grow to enormous size. Hell-bent on having a human guinea pig for his next experiment, the professor and Martin kidnap the caretaker of the cemetery and strap his unconscious body to the table. Having caught an error in the professor’s testimony, Lamont returns as The Shadow to foil the scheme. As for the huge cat, it died, as do all things that violate the laws of nature.
