Synopsis:
Driving along a back road near the seashore, Lamont and Margot find Valerie Collins, mistress of Dunmore Manor, wandering about dazed and terrified. After escorting her home, they are told by her husband, Ralph, that Valerie is a habitual sleepwalker and the victim of terrifying hallucinations. When Valerie pleads to see her son, John, who lives in a small house a mile away, the sleuths attempt to pay the boy a visit. John’s body is discovered and The Shadow returns to the manor and examines Ralph’s workroom which contains a number of electronic devices in operation. Discovering that Ralph was using strong doses of prescribed tranquilizers in an effort to trick his wife into throwing herself out of her window to escape the demons, but his last attempt failed, causing her to roam the estate in a daze. Having eliminated his stepson, Ralph plans to inherit her estate, but The Shadow locks him in the closet for the police to find when they arrive.
