Synopsis:
Skip Logan, a second-rate comedian, has been murdered. Three of his stooges had equal opportunity and motives so Lamont persuades Weston to release the suspects and give him a chance to prove who committed the crime. Sad Sam Levitt, a professional straight man, is later attacked and remains in a coma. Narrowing down the two remaining suspects as Corny Cobb, a blackmailing press agent, and Jill Adams, a brassy dancer-singer, Lamont discovers that Cobb plans to blackmail Jill into a contract, using evidence against her taken from Logan’s apartment. The Shadow attends the meeting and convinces Cobb to partner in the scheme, learning just how the murder was committed and how a glass paperweight was used in attempting to kill Levitt. Betraying the agent, The Shadow laughs as he uses the same paperweight to knock the killer unconscious so the police can find the evidence in his possession.
