Synopsis:
A swamp girl lures men into her lair only to claim their lives. A young journalist named Jerry Adams calls upon Lamont and Margot to visit the bayou in an effort to learn the identity of the phantom murderess. After witnessing the death of Pa Mire, Lamont pieces together the clues and calls on the assistance of Andy and Jerry in an effort to trap the girl in a small log cabin. After succeeding, her wig is removed and Salima Jane, Pa Mire’s daughter, is exposed. The Shadow reveals, however, that she never committed a crime. Andy wanted Jerry to build up the story of the Swamp Girl, hoping to create a scare to keep all men away from those parts. Andy was in love with Salima and committed murder. Andy was once a hypnotist in a circus and murdered a trapeze artist because she rejected his love. He hypnotized Salima to wander the swamp wearing a blonde wig and to have no memory of the evening before. He’s been hiding in the bayou ever since and even if the murder of Pa Mire cannot be proven, the former crime can. Lamont and Margot return to the city with Salima Jane, acquainting her with fancy dresses and hats.
