Synopsis:
Responding to Lisa Ransom’s urgent plea for help, Lamont and Margot find that she left Ransom’s Roost in search of her father. The old eccentric spends much of his time looking through a telescope. Having observed a series of events best described as flying saucers and mechanical men, he sets out to the valley to meet the outer space visitors. He discovers the interplanetary guests are nothing more than two professors, bent on designing a rocket ship capable of sending a man to Venus. Ransom offers to pay them two hundred thousand dollars of his own money to help finance the project. When Lisa gets too close to the schemers, she is killed for her trouble. The elaborate hoax was created by two con men posing as scientists who hoped to attract the attention of Peter Ransom to gain control of his money. Margot snoops too close to the launch site and is taken hostage by the criminals. The Shadow arrives to knock the gun out of Jackson’s hand and orders Margot to hold the murderers until the police arrive.
