Synopsis:
Days after Frederick Van Tine, famous collector of rare relics, returns from Africa with a new collection, his dead body is found. Soon after, his collection is put up on auction and Margot becomes the proud owner of the ebony figure known as the Goddess of Bomo. Shrouded by superstition and mystery, the item originated from the blackest jungles of the Belgian Congo. Murderer Albert Kroll visits Margot in an attempt to buy the figure at a price four times more than she paid, but fails. After the body of Peter Guimet, a special agent for the Belgian Congo colonial government, is found dead in an alley outside Margot’s apartment, Weston and Lamont begin to dig into the facts. The solution involves a clever smuggling trick planned by Kroll. A large amount of radium worth half a million dollars was smuggled into the U.S. inside the ebony figure and it was Kroll who shot the special agent. When Kroll threatens to scar Margot with his burning cigarette, The Shadow appears to reveal the solution and ensure no one escapes the room surrounded by the police outside.
Note:
This episode was a rewrite of “The Ebony Goddess” broadcast on September 24th 1944.
