Synopsis:

Vacationing in the bayous of Louisiana, Lamont and Margot find Anton Ozanyx writhing in agony on the Vane property. Anton claims the mysterious marks on his throat have been inflicted by the Leseur brothers, dead thirty years but now returned as vampires in need human blood for survival. Mrs. Vane came to Louisiana to recuperate from an illness but discovers to her horror that she should have chosen a more relaxing spot when her daughter wakes one morning to find two teeth marks on her throat. When the well cleaner in the area is found dead of an apparent attack, Lamont teams with the local sheriff to unearth the truth. Ozanyx murdered his wife and buried her body at the bottom of an abandoned well. To avoid discovery and hoping to scare the women back from whence they came, he faked the horror and committed a second murder. Using a knitting needle to commit the crime, he cleverly applied the use of vampire bats from a nearby cave to seek the exposed throats and help substantiate his wild stories of the Leseur brothers and vampires. Thanks to The Shadow, Ozanyx is placed under arrest and the body of his murdered wife is exhumed.
