Synopsis:
In response to a frantic phone call from Valerie Blaine, famous stage actress at the Alden Theater, Lamont and Margot go to her apartment and find the actress stabbed to death — a knife thrust into her heart. The lead suspect is Ben Wilde, an actor partially responsible for her recent success as an actress, whom Valerie tossed aside like a piece of furniture. Wilde was reportedly seen exiting her dressing room in a fit of anger. The real culprit is Dennis Farrell, an actor who was being blackmailed by Valerie. Having taken every precaution in committing the murder, he arranged for a life-like mask of Wilde and special plastic gloves with Wilde’s fingerprints on them to create what he thought was a perfect crime. With the help of Pop, the stagehand at the theater, Margot plays “ghost” to force a confession out of Farrell. After the confession, Farrell attempts to eliminate Margot and Pop, but The Shadow knocks the gun out of his hand.
