Synopsis:

Driving on a lonely mountain road on a black, stormy night, Margot and Lamont come upon a dying woman lying in a clump of bushes, clad only in a thin chiffon costume. Searching the dead woman’s apartment, they follow the murder trail to a building outside of town sheltering a Hindu group operated by its high priest, Osaka, and known as the Cult of Everlasting Peace. Margot and Lamont pose as casual acquaintances who want to join the order. Upon learning that the converts are forced to sign over all their worldly goods to the high priest, the cult members become victims of a horrible murder trap — placed into a rigid trance to slowly meditate away while their material bodies fast away to nothing — which explains the condition of the woman they found the other night. Amidst the chanting heard through the hallways, Margot’s cover is blown. While Sahib Norton starts packing to leave town, Osaka places Margot into “The Hall of Vapors,” bolting the heavy steel door. As Margot pounds furiously and screams for help, the steam grows hotter and the room thicker with deadly choking vapor. Before making their escape, Norton and Osaka have difficulty keeping the fuse lit that leads to the stores of alcohol and kerosene. Shooting at the invisible intruder, Norton fails when The Shadow knocks the gun to the ground. Police cars arrive as Lamont frees Margot from the death chamber.
