Synopsis:
Lamont and Margot spend the holiday at Snow Cap Lodge and run into a series of strange, unexplained murders. First, the ski master is killed by an explosive Christmas package and later the wife of one of the guests dies of poison gas from a Christmas box. Lamont questions the suspects while waiting for the police to arrive. Diggs, the owner of the lodge, possesses a Scrooge-like personality. Nat Welsh, a private investigator, was hired by Mr. Grinnell to keep tabs on the two victims thought to be having an affair. Grinnell suspected the affair but swears he had nothing to do with the murder of his wife. The Shadow appears with a self-made package designed to trick the guilty party — Welsh — into exposing himself. The private eye fell in love with Grinnell’s wife and hoped to kill her lover and blame the murder on Grinnell so he could have her to himself. She rejected his advances so he eliminated her, too. Having dealt with crime so much, he thought he could take the law into his own hands.
