Synopsis:
When young Jimmy and Patty Ryan pay Lamont four dollars and eighty-three cents to get their father out of jail before Christmas, Lamont sets out to learn why their father was framed for a murder he did not commit. After tracking down the only witness, Fay Carbel, Lamont finds he is too late — someone has shot her. Meanwhile, Jimmy and Patty return to the scene of the crime and find evidence that suggests Frank and Lil Hallam, their next-door neighbors, were responsible and framed their father for the crime. Before Frank can silence the children with two more murders, Lamont knocks out Frank and, taking the gun, forces the guilty parties to the police station. Jimmy and Patty are happy when their father is home in time to celebrate Christmas.
