Synopsis:

The mentally unbalanced Harriet Eustis swallows sleeping pills in an attempt to commit suicide. Having suffered a series of hallucinations after hearing weird music playing about the house, Harriet swears she shot and killed her husband while quarrelling over the love of a dead woman. Lamont, Margot and Dr. Bradley come to her rescue to prove that her husband, John, and his former lover, Janice Martin, played a clever game of crime and cruelty. John married Harriet for her money and planned with Janice to drive his wife to suicide by making her believe she was insane. They wired the house to produce the ghostly music and faked a number of delusions, driving her to complete despair. When Harriet makes a second try to kill herself, The Shadow attempts to prove her delusions are manufactured. In the confusion, Harriet shoots and wounds Janice. The doctor arrives, armed with a gun, to safely escort Harriet to a hotel, Janice to the hospital and John to police headquarters.
