Synopsis:
Lamont and Margot investigate a series of strange disappearances in the deserted theater district on Doom Street. Three blonde girls, penniless and friendless, have disappeared without a trace. While Lamont seeks a tip from his underworld contact, a brunette mysteriously vanishes, breaking the pattern. Lamont questions a fence — a dealer in illicit merchandise of all kinds, including the sale of wigs — and Margot hails a taxi, finding herself picked up by an old man who isn’t what he pretends to be. Going along with the scheme, Margot discovers the source for the wig makers. Before she becomes the next victim The Shadow arrives to interfere with the ploy. Goading Wilford into confessing what he does with the bodies after their hair is cut off to use for the beautifully-coiffed wigs, The Shadow torments the wig makers into thinking the dead never rest and are outside the door. The law outside the door knocks loudly as The Shadow laughs, knowing justice has arrived.
