Synopsis:
Lamont and Margot help Dr. Pompton search for a crazed killer known as the Throttler of Haven-moor who believes that happiness is the one true disease of the earth and sets out to kill everyone who is happy. He escaped from an asylum more than a year ago. Lamont, Margot and Pompton arrive at the McPhail farm along the remote stretches of Justin County. There, the doctor’s assistant, Jed O’Hare, fits the description of the killer right down to his red hair, beard and deep scar. After a couple of grizzly deaths, including that of the local sheriff, Lamont discovers that the doctor is really the killer in disguise. Shortly after his escape from the asylum, the mad doctor picked up an ex-convict fitting his own description and hired him as an assistant, using him as a shield in case the police ever caught up with him. Cornered by Pompton, alias the Throttler of Havenmoor, Margot is escorted to his secret laboratory just off the study. Before he can operate on Margot, Pompton meets The Shadow. In his attempt to flee, Pompton breaks the window and climbs out, racing across the grounds. The police open fire with a Tommy gun, killing the lunatic.
