Synopsis:
On New Year’s Eve, having been traced to the Pelican Club, the notorious Nicky was chased and gunned down by Commissioner Weston and his men. Now, one year later, the strange reappearance of the supposedly dead sweetheart of Fay Wright at The Safari, another waterfront nightclub, suggests the dead can wreak vengeance. The body of the intoxicated Sid Mason is found, stabbed in the back with Nicky’s trademark knife. The Shadow questions all the suspects and follows Fay to an old boathouse when Nicky makes his appearance and forces her to tag along. Before he can seek his revenge, the Nicky imposter is unmasked to reveal Dan Gordon, the proprietor and Fay’s former employer. Jealousy was the motive. When Gordon lost his prize singer to a new waterfront club the month before, he concocted a scheme to imitate a dead man. The Shadow knocks the gun out of Gordon’s hand, ensuring the police will learn all the details of the crime.
